LEGAL PERSONALITY OF RELIGION IN THE SOUTH DURING THE YEARS FROM 1954 TO 1975

Abstract
Legal personality of religion is the government’s recognition of the legal status of a religious organization. The issue of legal personality of religion in Vietnam has gone through many stages, involving different political institutions. Inheriting the legal system under the French colonial period, the government of the Republic of Vietnam in the South from 1954 to 1975 recognized legal personality of religious organizations. The article shows the recognition of legal personality of religion in the South during the years from 1954 to 1975 including the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam, organizations of Protestantism, Hoa Hao Buddhism, Caodaism, Mendicancy, and some other religious organizations.
