BELIEF AND RELIGIOUS LIFE IN VIETNAM IN 2023: TYPICAL EVENTS AND POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS

Abstract

There were many outstanding religious events during the year 2023 such as the introduction of the White paper on religion by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, the upgradation of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Vatican, the United States Department of State’s designation to place Vietnam on the Special Watch List Countries in regard to the matter of religious freedom, etc.. Belief and religious life are diverse with many manifestations in different aspects. The article analyzes some outstanding events in belief and religious life in Vietnam in 2023, and on that basis, it shows some policy suggestions. The article also summarizes the theoretical and practical issues in order to provide timely policy advices.
