Study on phytochemical composition and -glucosidase inhibitory activity of Glycosmis parviflora (Sims) Little - Rutaceae
Abstract
Three natural compounds, spathulenol (1), vitexin (2) and sitoindoside I (3), were isolated from the aerial parts of Glycosmis parviflora (Sims) Little for the first time. The dried powder of G. parviflora (6.0 kg) were macerated with methanol at room temperature and evaporated under reduced pressure to yield crude extract (300 g). This was suspended in water and partitioned with organic solvents to obtain fractional extracts. The compounds (1-3) were isolated by various chromatographic experiments. Their structures were determined by 1D-, 2D-NMR in reference to the literature. Of them, sitoindoside I (1) exhibited significant a-glucosidase inhibitory activity with IC50 value of 111.69 ± 7.97 µg/ml.
