Quantitative determination of cycloalliin in the fermented shallot (Allium ascalonicum L., Alliaceae)
Abstract
An HPLC method for quatification of cycloalliin in the fermented shallots was established in observance of the ICH guidelines as: Column - Wakopak Wakosil 5NH2 (4.6 mm × 150 mm); Detector - UV (210 nm); Mobile phase - a mixture of 0.5 % phosphoric acid solution in water-a mixture of 0.5 % phosphoric acid solution in acetonitrile; Flow rate - 1.5 ml/min. The method proved desirable specificity; high linearity (R = 0.999); quite linear range - 5 to 100 µg/ml; good repeatability (RSD ≤ 1.3 %, from 3 HPLC tests); high accuracy (recovery from 98 – 102 %); limit of quantitation (LOQ) - 0.96 µg/ml
