Evaluation of anti-dyslipidemia and anti-oxidative stress activities of polyphenol and flavonoid-rich extract from Artocarpus altilis leaves

Abstract
Artocarpus altilis is a multi-function plant used in traditional medicine that must be proven. This study aimed to determine the anti-dyslipidemia and anti-oxidative stress activities of polyphenol and flavonoid-rich extracts from Artocarpus altilis leaves. Anti-dyslipidemia activity was clarified basing on tyloxapol-induced dyslipidemia mice models. The survey results showed that the polyphenol and flavonoid-rich extract from Artocarpus altilis leaves had the effective capability to resist dyslipidemia. In addition, the polyphenol and flavonoid-rich extract from Artocarpus altilis leaves also resisted oxidative stress in the liver, kidney, pancreas, and heart depending on the malondialdehyde reduction and glutathione increase. Thus, the polyphenol and flavonoid-rich extract from Artocarpus altilis leaves is a promising source of substances because of its anti-dyslipidemia and anti-oxidative stress potential.
