Ensuring gender equality and child protection in labor relations in Vietnam - Approach from the perspective of basic labor standards in International Labor Conventions

Abstract

Ensuring gender equality, regulations on labor regimes, and social policies to protect female workers and minor workers, including children, are among the essential policies of the State on Labor. In addition, in the integration process, Vietnam has ratified the Conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO), including: Convention 100 in 1952 and 111 in 1958 on the elimination of discrimination in employment and occupation, Convention 138 in 1973, and Convention 182 in 1999 on the abolition of child labor,... This study analyzed the contents related to international labor standards that are considered fundamental rights of workers. In addition, the study analyzed the existing legal status of labor standards in issues related to gender equality of two subjects: female and child in Vietnam, and proposing appropriate recommendations to ensure gender equality in labor relations in Vietnam according to international labor standards.
