Efficient synthesis of Chalcone derivatives using Ketone or Aldehyde as the main raw material by Claisen-Schmidt condensation method: Update on recent information
Keywords:
Abstract
Chalcones are a unique and significant group of chemical compounds that are naturally found in various plant species. They have the potential for antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antioxidant activities, making them promising candidates for the development of new drugs. Ongoing research is focused on optimizing their biological and chemical properties to meet the stringent requirements of pharmaceutical and biological applications. The Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction is a commonly used method for chalcones synthesis. This article aimed to present synthetic methods of chalcones based on the Claisen-Schmidt reaction. The advantages and disadvantages of different catalysts conditions for the Claisen-Schmidt condensation were also discussed.
