The decorative patterns on phoenix robes ‑ a type of court costume reserved exclusively for empresses,
consorts, and princesses ‑ not only possess aesthetic value but also embody Confucian ideology, royal power,
and folk beliefs, reflecting the sophistication and high level of development of Nguyễn dynasty court art. The
article clarifies the aesthetic, symbolic, and historical values of this court costume, thereby contributing to the
preservation cultural heritage and the promotion of traditional Vietnamese artistic identity in the contemporary
context. In addition, the study highlights the cultural interaction between indigenous traditions and influences
from Chinese art, resulting in phoenix robes that possess a distinctive Vietnamese aesthetic and spirit.
