Effectiveness of community service learning approach on social responsibility of students of the University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies

Abstract
The paper employs quantitative analysis techniques on primary survey data from 173 students of University of Foreign Language Studies, The University of Danang. These students participated in English Interpreting courses having integrated with the Community Service Learning (CSL) approach. In these courses, students were required to complete a CSL project at famous tourist destinations in Da Nang city for one academic semester (15 weeks). The findings indicate that the CSL experience at tourist, cultural, and historical destinations improved students’ attitudes towards themselves and perception of social responsibility towards the community. Accordingly, the a number of feasible solutions are propsoed to enhance the effectiveness of integrating CSL approach in all undergraduate training programs at University of Foreign Language Studies and member universities of The University of Danang.
