Laughter in folk songs of the South Central region

Abstract

On the way to the South, the Vietnamese people in the South Central region have overcome many difficulties to earn a living, build their homeland, and enrich their folk literature. In the folk literature of the South Central region, folk songs are the most abundant and unique genre and have preserved the living space and the beauty of the souls of the working people. They have put into folk songs their thoughts and feelings of the early days of land reclamation and settlement, as well as laughter. The study focuses on exploring the nuances of laughter in folk songs of the South Central region, thereby understanding the reality of life, people, and language talent of the common people. Laughter not only expresses mood but also attitudes, behaviors, concepts, etc. From here, we understand more about the people and culture of this land.
