Abstract

To acquire the existing radioactivity data in the main kinds of foods and foodstuffs samples is a necessary task for assessing the environmental impact. Moreover, uptake of radionuclides from soil-to-plant is characterized using a transfer factor (TF). For this reason, the calculation of the soil-to-plant transfer factor is very important and useful. The parameter is necessary not only for transport models in the environment but also useful in predicting radionuclides concentrations in the soil crops for estimating human exposure. In this paper, the authors summarized and presented radionuclides concentrations and soil-to-plant transfer factor of samples collected in Dong Nai. The results obtained show that: The radioisotope activity in foodstuffs is lower than the other results in Vietnam and the recommended value; 40K and 226Ra are the major isotopes transferred into foods and plants.
