CUTTING PROPAGATION OF Cupressus torulosa D. Don IN HOANG LIEN NATIONAL PARK, LAO CAI
Keywords
Abstract
Cupressus torulosa D. Don is a multi-purpose tree with high economic value and has been listed in the Red Book of Vietnam at level of Critically Endangered (CR). Studies on the effects of concentrations of IBA hormon, cuttings type and cutting season have been conducted in Hoang Lien National Park and show that these affect were significantly differences in rooting rate and root system quality of cuttings. Using IBA hormon at a concentration of 900ppm in cutting propagation had the highest rooting rate (76.85%) and the best root quality; with 5.06 roots of the average number of roots per cuttings and 14.94 cm in the average root length. In the cuttings of Cupressus torulosa, the half lignified cuttings achieved the best effect with a rooting rate of 73.15%. Cutting propagation of Cupressus torulosa in summer was highly effective, with a rooting rate of 74.04%, the average number of roots per cuttings of 4.15 roots, and the average root length of 14,67 cm. These are important scientific bases for the gene conservation and development of Cupressus torulosa in Vietnam.
