NATURAL DISASTER RISK ASSESSMENT FOR THE SOCIAL – ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLANNING

Abstract

Vietnam is one of the countries that often suffers from many types of natural disasters. In the process of socio-economic development, natural disasters are a major obstacle and challenge to Vietnam. The assessment of natural disaster risks in Socio-Economic development planning has been mandatorily regulated in the legal documents. In this paper, the author introduces methods of quantitative assessment of natural disaster risk based on the basis of implementation at 8 river basins of 10 central provinces, with the purpose that this method will be applied more widely and creatively for the Socio-Economic development planning of other regions
