Abstract

Ho Bieu Chanh is the author who started the prose career in the early twentieth century and is one of the writers who contributed to strengthening the initial foundation of national literature. He is considered a writer who has brought the daily voice also known as verbal words of the Southern people into the novels. This is a conscious choice, since he traditionally writes as saying, say as if saying, say fluently, or no frills. This article explores the language of the 6-province-southern people in Ho Bieu Chanh’s novels in the following ways: 1) from the Southern locality; 2) Southern verbal words; 3) The flexible use of idioms in Ho Bieu Chanh's novels
