Abstract

Gozan is a model of monastic management originating from the Song dynasty in China that was introduced to Japan during the Kamakura period and perfected under the Muromachi period. The development process of this system has its own nuances, associated with cultural and historical context of that era in Japan. The most striking feature, however, is the administrative process of monasteries in the Gozan system, demonstrating its close relationship with the Bakufu government
