THE SOVEREIGNTY OF THE PEOPLE IN JEAN JACQUES ROUSSEAU THOUGHT - REALITY AND HISTORICAL VALUE

Abstract

The Great French Revolution in 1789 broke out, reflected the mark of the aspiration and human spirit of Jean Jacques Rousseau (1712-1776) - the most progressive representative of the Enlightenment movement. With the view that state sovereignty belongs to the people with the principle of indivisibility and inalienability, the power of the government comes from the people, in order to organize and exercise the people's will, Rousseau strongly inspired the revolution against oppressive political institutions, enslaved the people in general, and had great historical value for the modern world
