PREVENTION AND ELIMINATION OF CHILD LABOUR UNDER INTERNATIONAL LAW AND THE LAW OF VIETNAM

Abstract

The paper analyzes and assesses the compatibility between international law and the law of Vietnam relating to child labour as well as the practical requirements of the prevention and effective elimination of child labour in Vietnam. According to the authors, although the law of Vietnam on child labour is consistent with fundamental provisions of international law, ist shortcomings, especially the lack of provisions on a legal framework for employers and child emplyees in the informal sector, the household economic sector and in rural areas. The paper proposes some solutions for improving the law on prevention and elimination of child labour in Vietnam in the coming years.
