Abstract

Until now, the issues of local governance have always been one of the major topics in the national reforms of many countries around the world, and Vietnam is no exception. In recent years, Vietnam has been renovating the organisational and operational model of local governments, aiming for a lean structure with more efficient and effective operations. During the reform process, researching what other countries have been doing and acquiring their experiences is indispensable. This article analyses the local government model of the French Republic, thereby proposing some suggestions to improve the organisation and operations of local government in Vietnam under current conditions.
