Abstract

Although some countries in the world have employed pretrial electronic monitoring of accused juveniles, this is a relatively new issue for Vietnam. This paper studies the legal provisions and enforcement practices of pretrial electronic monitoring of accused juveniles in California (representing the United States), England and Wales (representing the United Kingdom). Research shows that this legal institution has certain advantages and disadvantages which, Vietnam should fully and carefully examine before considering incorporating it into the country’s legal framework.
