Comparing the jury instution of the United States and the institution of people’s assessors of Vietnam - Some suggestions

Abstract

It is suggested from the analysis of the jury institution of the US and the institution of people’s assessors of Vietnam that although the both institutions have the same origin but they are different in legal nature, selection process and level of participation in court trial. Based on those similarities and differences, the paper offers prosals for reforming the institution of people’s assessors of Vietnam, contributing to the improvement of trial capacity of the courts and the avoidance of being unjustly and wrongfully tried.
