Abstract

The 2019 Hague Convention on the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments in civil or commercial matters has been concluded and open for countries’ accession. This is an important convention manifesting the desire of countries to have a worldwide convention on such matters to establish a stable and predictable legal environment to promote international trade, investment and globalisation. The paper analyses the main provisions of the Convention to suggest further researches on the possibility for Vietnam to access to the Convention as well as researches to amend relevant domestic law on the conditions for recognition, enforcement or refusal of foreign judgments from non-treaty countries in Vietnam.
