Some issues on principles of criminal judgment execution under the 2019 Law on execution of criminal judgments

Abstract

The Law on Execution of criminal judgment 2019 is expected to open positive changes in the area of criminal judgment execution and to contribute to the consistency and improvement of the criminal justice system in Vietnam. In order to assess the practical achievements, it is necessary to depend on contextual factors and the needs of its issurance, the viewpoints and orientations in the law-making process, and the principles of criminal judgment execution prescribed therein. The article reveals that many advances have been created in the Law on Execution of criminal judgment in 2019. Nonetheless, through initial analysis on the principles of criminal judgment enforcement, there remains lots of issues to be further studied.
