Inheritance of real estates in Vietnam's Feudal Law

Abstract

A civil aspect which always attracted the attention of Vietnamese feudal dynasties is the issue of real estates inheritance. Land is the most important asset regulated by Vietnamese feudal law because of the agriculture-oriented economy. The feudal law on inheritance clarifies the types of property, the subject, the level of share, the form of inheritance and the method of dividing the real estates in the relationship between husbands and wifes, between parents and children. These regulations are based on family background, traditional Vietnamese culture and Confucian tradition.
