Abstract

The first General Election (January 6, 1946) was an event of historical significance, marking a fundamental step forward in the formation and development of democracy in Viet -nam. Besides, it served as a political and legal foundation for establishing the highest repre sentative body of the entire nation's people - the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (First Term), precursor to the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The article analyzes the ideological and theoretical foundations, historical significance of the first General Election, thereby proposes solutions to continue promoting those values in the new era of national development.
