Abstract

Conversational implicature is definitely crucial for the development of Pragmatic competence in second language acquisition. Pragmatic competence contributes to Communicative competence. The paper aims at raising awareness of the prime importance of teaching/learning Conversational implicature in order to enhance the communicative competence. The paper thus offers an overview of relevant definitions and classifications, presents the rationale for the significance of Conversational implicature in language teaching/learning and suggests some pedagogic techniques which could be used in Vietnam context.
