AN ANALYSIS OF THE LEARNING NEEDS OF ENGLISH-MAJOR STUDENTS AT VAN HIEN UNIVERSITY

Analyzing the learning needs of English-major students at Van Hien University is an issue of
great concern for both lecturers and students, as it serves as a valuable tool for designing and developing
specialized English programs. This study surveyed 221 English-major students to identify their learning
needs regarding specialized subjects. The findings indicate that conducting a needs analysis is essential
for the Faculty of Foreign Languages, revealing certain gaps in the curriculum and variations in students’
perceptions. Furthermore, the study assesses whether the existing program adequately meets students’
needs and proposes practical recommendations to improve future course design and instructional quality
