Some difficulties in English speaking skills faced by first-year students at Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment: causes and solutions

Abstract

Among the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), speaking is a skill that students consider to be quite difficult for them for many reasons: Students think that they lack vocabulary and do not know how to apply it. Good sentence structure in speaking style and not confident enough to stand in front of a crowd and many other reasons. In this article, I focus on understanding some of the causes that students encounter and offer some solutions to help students improve their speaking skill now and in the future.
