Teaching methods of Sino-Vietnamese words for secondary school students

Abstract

In recent years, the issue of teaching and learning Sino – Vietnamese word an important component of Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary - has been increasingly valued. The reason why it is considered important and necessary is that, according to incomplete statistics from linguists, in Vietnamese, more than 60% to 70% of words are of Sino-Vietnamese origin, with the majority belonging to the Hán-Việt category. Developing an effective method of teaching and learning this category of words in order to contribute to correct spoken and written Vietnamese is still a challenging problem for those involved in teaching the Vietnamese language and researching language and teaching methods. In this article, we boldly propose some methods of teaching Sino-Vietnamese words to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning these words at the current secondary education level.
