Why and how to analyze the need for specialized English courses?

Abstract

In this paper, the author reviewed the literature on need analysis in English for Specific Purposes (ESP), maritime English teaching and learning, and the role and models of need analysis in developing an ESP course. The study’s result proposed ways to collect data to analyse the need to use maritime English among marine engineers on board.
