Improving students’ speaking skills through drama activities: An action research study at a high school in Hanoi

Abstract

This study aims to find out the effectiveness of drama activities in enhancing and improving speaking skills of high school students. The research was conducted through the action research method, in which a group of 20 students was randomly selected to participate in drama activities for two months. Research data was collected from speaking tests and surveys. Research results show that drama activities have a positive impact on improving students' speaking skills. Students have shown significant progress in their communication skills, specifically, better pronunciation, more confidence in expressing opinions and more flexibility in using language. This proves that drama activities can be an effective method to improve students' speaking skills.
