Developing the ability to apply learned know-ledge and skills for primary school students in teaching Science grade 5

Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an advanced educational approach that enables students to develop the ability to apply their acquired knowledge and skills to real-life situations. By seamlessly integrating theory with practice, PBL not only helps students grasp core concepts but also fosters the development of essential skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, scientific research, and communication. However, a survey of 5th-grade science teaching at primary schools in Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City, reveals that the implementation of this method still faces many challenges. This highlights the need to establish a suitable and easily applicable process for designing and organizing learning projects, aimed at enhancing students’ ability to apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems. This approach is crucial for improving the quality of education, meeting the demands of the 2018 general education curriculum, and equipping students with the necessary skills for future life and work.
