Abstract

Competency-based curriculum focuses on the role of the learner as the subject of the learning process, in contrast to content-focused curriculum. Rather than controlling ‘inputs’, quality management in competency-based education focuses on controlling ‘outputs’, or student learning outcomes. Therefore, the reform of education and training towards a competency-based approach is an issue of utmost importance, and a necessity in the current educational reform requirements.
