Abstract

Mathematical modeling equips students with the competency to use math as a tool to solve problems that arise in real-life situations. Mathematical modeling competency is one of the competencies that need to be achieved during the learning process according to the new educational program. For grade 12 math, applying derivatives to investigate functions is one of the cores. Therefore, applying mathematical modeling to teaching applied derivatives for grade 12 helps students solve real-life problems using mathematical methods; develop mathematical skills and understand the usefulness of mathematics in practice.
