Abstract

The article focuses on the authenticity of mathematical modeling tasks. It applies Palm’s (2007) authenticity criteria and categorizes tasks into levels of real-world relevance to evaluate those in three Grade 11 mathematics textbooks. The findings indicate that the current textbooks have integrated numerous real-world tasks; however, differences in the levels of these tasks are analyzed and discussed in detail within the article.
