Abstract

Simulation, as an evidence-based educational technique and process, first emerged when
nurses working in hospitals had difficulty gaining clinical experience. Simulation helps to address any
constraints associated with the clinical setting (including patient availability, safety concerns, etc.),
promotes teamwork and solidarity among students, and implements a protocol for acquiring a skill. It is
scenario-based, where learning becomes interactive, allows for feedback between the educator and other
team members, and promotes clinical reasoning and critical thinking within the team.
