OVERVIEW OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN LANGUAGE EDUCATION FROM 2022 TO 2024

Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing language education by enabling personalized
learning, enhancing assessment, and supporting skill development across diverse contexts. This systematic
review synthesizes peer-reviewed studies from 2022–2024, categorizing AI applications into six key
areas: adaptive learning systems, AI-assisted assessment, speaking and pronunciation tools, writing
support technologies, conversational chatbots, and AI-based content generation. Findings highlight AI’s
ability to boost learner engagement, provide tailored feedback, and reduce language anxiety. However,
challenges include ethical concerns, potential over-reliance, and the evolving role of teachers. The review
advocates for longitudinal research, multimodal approaches, and ethical frameworks to ensure inclusive
and effective AI integration in language education.
