Improving Russian reading comprehension skills for non-Russian major students

Abstract

Abstract: The paper presents the necessity of improving Russian reading comprehension skills for B1 level students at the People’s Security Academy (PSA). After completing level A2, students must meet the requirements of reading documents to grasp the general content, understand the main ideas and relatively fully and accurately understand the main information as well as additional information of the text. However, students still encounter limitations in processing reading comprehension documents to serve the research of professional documents in the future. The article analyzes the actual needs and difficulties of students in reading comprehension, from which the teacher has explored and initially applied methods to improve the quality of reading skills for students.
