Abstract

Matlab App Designer is applied in research to design software for electrochemical battery experiments. The method uses the Nernst formula to determine the electromotive force of an electrochemical cell. That method uses electrode potential measurement data of two electrodes. The program designed in this paper, which is highly general, can be applied to many different pairs of electrodes, and comprehensively investigates the electromotive force of electrochemical batteries when at electrodes with variable concentrations. Case studies for common electrode pairs are applied to survey and evaluate the designed program. The simulation results have shown that the program works effectively and accurately. The software designed in this study can be applied in teaching general chemistry to engineering students, as well as a useful tool in the field of chemistry.
