Abstract

Teamwork skill is one of the most important soft skills not only for university-level subjects but also for jobs on current market. When transferring to university environment, many first-year students are not used to working in group group, leading to less effective learning. Therefore, when teaching each subject, especially specialized English, teachers need to focus on improving students’ teamwork skills, especially first-year students. The following article presents an overview of the current situation, difficulties and proposes some positive solutions for teaching and learning to improve teamwork skills for first-year students of the University of Transport Technology (UTT). Through this article, readers can grasp the core problem to find remedial measures in teaching and learning to develop group work skills for students when studying specialized English.
