Abstract

Listening is an important skill in language acquisition. It is not just about hearing the words but also understanding the message behind those words. Students often find it difficult to learn listening skill because of factors like the pace of speech, different accents and unfamiliar expressions.This dificulty can hinder the overall learning process.. Numerous techniques have been used, including the dictation method, to help students at the University of Engineeing and Technology develop their listening skills. This writing presents the definition, benefits, and drawbacks of the approach, how to carry out the activity as well as how it affects learning listening skills.
