Applying the method of creating argumentative presentations based on argumentation theory in teaching high school students

Abstract

The 2018 Literature Program focuses on developing skills: Reading - Writing - Speaking – Listening. Speaking skill is an important content, but it has not focused on understanding and developing research in the current context, especially in the argumentative presentation (most popular in the program). The research focuses on providing specific methods to create an argumentative presentation based on the core theory of the genre, as argumentation theory. The research paper applies methodology, summary method, and qualitative method to learn about argumentation theory, how to create reputable arguments, and methods of building the introduction, body and conclusion according to the structure for the presentation. From the research results, the article proposes a method to guide students in building a presentation according to argumentation theory to increase the effectiveness of persuasion in their speech.
