Current status of using criteria to evaluate students’ ability to collaboratively solve problems in teaching Science at the primary school level

Abstract

This article presents the results of a survey about opinions of primary school teachers on proposing and using criteria to assess collaborative problem solving competency of students in teaching Science subject grade 4. Results show that teaching Science is important in helping students develop collaborative problem solving competency. When assessing ability to collaboratively solve problems of students in learning Science subject as well as assessing their competency in general, using criteria will help assess students more specifically and comprehensively. There are also certain difficulties in using criteria to assess students in practice.
