Research on Thai pronunciation errors of Vietnamese people: case study of first-year students majoring in Thai studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities

Abstract
This article aims to explore, identify, and analyze the Thai pronunciation errors of first-year students (academic year 2023-2027) majoring in Thai Studies at University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The data source comprises audio recordings of reading assignments from 18 first-year Thai Studies students. The research results indicate that these students encountered a total of 647 pronunciation errors, categorized into four groups in descending order: 1. incorrect initial consonant pronunciation; 2. incorrect tone pronunciation; 3. incorrect vowel pronunciation; 4. incorrect final consonant pronunciation.
