Edward (2004) believes that “The strong development of mathematics over thousands of years has its roots in practice and ultimately serves the extremely rich life of humanity.” Mathematics originates from practice and returns to serve practice. This article proposes some directions for designing and using practical situations in teaching Maths 5 to contribute to developing mathematical capacity for 5th grade students.
