Abstract

TSaline-affected areas along the Tien River in Tien Giang Province possess significant potential for agricultural production, aquaculture, and ecotourism development; however, transportation infrastructure remains limited due to fragmented terrain and the increasingly severe impacts of saltwater intrusion. These constraints directly hinder investment attraction and the formation of integrated agricultural–tourism value chains in the Tien River riverside region. This study examines the role of transportation infrastructure in improving spatial connectivity, supporting livelihood transformation, and enhancing the effective utilization of local development potential in saline-affected areas. Based on an assessment of existing challenges and sustainability requirements, the study proposes investment attraction solutions centered on public–private partnership models, the integration of transport projects with revenue-generating sectors, and strengthened support mechanisms tailored to local environmental conditions. The findings provide policy-oriented insights for developing transportation infrastructure in alignment with agricultural–tourism value chains in saline-affected areas along the Tien River.
