Abstract

Ultra High Performance Concrete has been increasingly applied in construction due to its outstanding properties. However, accurately evaluating the shear capacity of UHPC beams, remains a significant challenge. This study focuses on assessing the shear capacity of reinforced UHPC beams using various approaches, including existing design code provisions and numerical simulations. Test data incorporating variations in reinforcement ratio, steel fiber content, and stirrup ratio are employed to verify the accuracy of these methods. The results indicate that current design standards tend to underestimate the shear capacity by approximately 12-37% compared to experimental values, whereas numerical simulations offer more accurate predictions with errors ranging from only 8–19%. These findings contribute to refining shear design methodologies for UHPC beams and provide valuable insights for the future calibration of structural design codes.
