Effect of fly ash on the properties of ceramic tiles

The article presents the test results using 7.5 % – 20 % FA as raw materials for the production of a type of ceramic tile fired at 1150 0C soaked 15 minutes. The content of 7.5 % FA is considered optimal due to the highest increase in bending strength and other parameters such as volumetric density, real and apparent density, and water absorption, ... in the range of the allowable limits. The results of DSC and XRD analysis showed that the addition of FA increased mullite minerals content, raising the bending strength from 34,74 to 45,10 Mpa.
