Prestressed precast concrete slab design based on BS EN 1992-1-1

Abstract

Prestressed precast concrete floors are a modern structural solution in the civil construction industry, because they have the advantages of precast technology, which are environmentally friendly, fast construction, and guaranteed quality of units... This paper is devoted to study the working characteristics of precast concrete slabs based on the dependence on the load and the span of the slabs, and hte drawing general principles are drawn to design these slabs. After that, based on BS EN 1992-1-1 design standards, calculation instructions are analyzed and presented in detail. Finally, a calculation procedure with specific examples for prestressed precast concrete slabs according to service limit states is proposed according to the provisions of BS EN 1992-1-1. This information is useful for engineers when applying precast structures to construction works, especially prestressed precast concrete slabs.
