Abstract

Nowadays, in big cities in Vietnam, the demolition of old buildings and the construction of new ones occur regularly and continuously. Following that, a large volume of construction and demolition waste was generated daily. Besides, producing steel materials also creates a large amount of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), a byproduct. Therefore, it is interesting to use these solid wastes to produce recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), which contributes to sustainable development in civil engineering and reduces the impact of environmental pollution. This paper shows the experimental results of RAC's compressive strength and elastic modulus over time made with recycled concrete aggregate and GGBFS.

Keywords: Recycled aggregate concrete, compressive strength; modulus of elasticity; recycled coarse aggregate; ground granulated blast furnace slag.
