Factors affecting the probability of winning bids for high-rise industrial building construction contracts
Abstract
In recent years, the rapid development of e-commerce and the shift in foreign investment have led to a significant increase in demand for industrial facilities, particularly high-rise industrial buildings, which have become a preferred option for many enterprises. To meet this growing demand, the construction of high-rise industrial buildings has been actively promoted, resulting in intense competition among contractors seeking to secure construction contracts. Understanding the factors influencing bidding success has thus become a critical focus for contractors. This study examines the factors affecting contractors’ success in securing construction bids for high-rise industrial buildings in selected northern provinces, employing the Relative Importance Index (RII) analysis method. The results identify six key factors influencing bid success: the contractor’s reputation with project owners; strategic competitive decisions made by the contractor; the capability and experience of cost estimation and quantity surveying teams; the contractor’s expertise and track record in executing similar projects; the contractor’s financial capacity; and the ability to coordinate effectively with material suppliers. These findings serve as a reference for contractors to develop strategies that enhance their competitiveness in bidding for high-rise industrial building projects in northern provinces.
